Patchogue-Medford Key Club By-Laws

The following people are eligible for membership of the Patchogue-Medford Key Club:

     1) Students attending Patchogue-Medford High School
     2) Students that pay the dues of $15.00 and complete a roster form


**Membership Status In order to stay an active member, each person must complete 10 hours of community service per quarter; or 40 hours over the course of the Key Club year. These hours DO NOT include meetings. Any outside community service must have proof.

Disciplinary and Impeachment Procedures:

The following actions will be cause for disciplinary action:

1)      Any actions unbecoming of an officer or a member during a meeting, or while
     representing the club are grounds for impeachment, probation, and/or removal
     from the Key Club. Such actions include: any officer or member who
      does not fulfill his/her job duties and responsibilities, being disrespectful
      toward an advisor or any other member, constant tardiness without notification.

The board will consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Historian, Webmaster, immediate past President, current and/or immediate past executive officer.


Elections:

  • Elections will be held annually in March.
  • The term of all offices is one year.
  • To run for office members must have been a member since September of the previous year.
  • For re-elections/re-appointment officer must have attended at least 85% of meetings, activities and projects for that year.
  • Members seeking election must have attended 75% of all meetings, activities, and projects for that year.
  • Special elections will be held if a position is vacated or created during the year.
  • To vote, students must have paid dues.
  • Decisions will be made based on a majority vote.
  • If a tie occurs candidates give a second speech and votes will be recast.


**Responsibilities of each office are listed in the yearly agenda provided to the clubs after all elections.

There shall be the following standing committees with chairs:

  1. K-family relations committee
  2. Awards committee
  3. Editorial/Public Relations committee
  4. Recruitment/Membership committee
  5. Project committee
  6. Advocacy committee
